Liverpool Mission Trip
Throughout the summer, several teams of East Cooper members have traveled to various countries to visit our global partners and share the gospel with unreached people groups. One of these teams recently traveled to Liverpool to visit David and Susan, who work with refugees from Iran and Afghanistan. They attend a Farsi-speaking church that seeks to minister to these individuals as they seek asylum.
The team spent the week teaching ESL classes to refugees and building relationships with people in the classes. A major highlight for Van Barnhill, one of the team members, was hearing the stories of Iranian and Afghan refugees. "It was amazing to hear about the daunting journey that many of them had to make in order to get to the United Kingdom. It was quite encouraging to hear testimonies about how they came to faith in Christ," Van shared. The team saw the Lord move through various conversations and opportunities to build relationships with the refugees during the week. In particular, there were three young men from Afghanistan, who shared their desire to one day return to their country in order to share the gospel with the Afghan people.
Please pray that the church in Liverpool would continue to grow and be able to help other refugees that make their way to the UK. Pray for their pastor as he looks to take a sabbatical and do some continuing education. Pray for David and Susan as they love these displaced individuals for the sake of the gospel. Pray for those refugees who are waiting for their asylum status to be granted.
